How To Use Keywords To SEO Your Wordpress Blog

In the world of blogging, keywords are crucial to your success. Without keywords, search engines have no way of knowing what your blog's all about.  And optimizing your blog for the search engines, making it easy for them to see what you're blogging about, is your main priority. So learning to use keywords to SEO your WordPress blog is one of the most important things you need to do.

Setting up your blog on a WordPress platform is a good first step.  The search engines like WordPress because of its clean, easy to read coding and navigation.  However, there are plenty of things you can do to help your blog rank even better.

Here are some tips for using keywords to SEO your WordPress blog.

Use keywords in your domain name:  Using a keyword rich domain name helps your niche blog rank better because it easily identifies your site for the search engines.

Use keywords for page titles:  Use one or two keywords per page title for each page on your blog.

Use keywords for category titles:  Don't use slang or cutesy names to name your categories.  In fact, it's best to have no more than seven categories and use one-word keywords to identify them.  It makes it easier for readers to find content on your site, and it makes it easier for search engines to read your site.

Use keywords for meta tags:  Use the setting's tab on your WordPress dashboard to include all  keywords that are relevant to your site.  The search engines pay particularly close attention to meta tags!

Use keywords for alt tags:  Each time you upload an image or create a link in one of your blog posts you need to use alt tags to identify it for the search engines.  These alt tags identify your non-text content for the search engines.  Obviously, you want to use keywords.

Use keywords for titles and content:  Each blog post should have one keyword in the title, and you should use that same keyword in the body of the post.  Try to include the keyword among the first 3 words in the title, and then use it in the first paragraph, and  the last paragraph and once or twice in the middle of the post.

Using the WordPress platform is the best choice you can make for your blogging platform, but by now you can see that keywords and keyword research is just as critical for your success.  Even the most experienced bloggers spend a good portion of their time one nothing but keyword research for SEO for their WordPress blogs.  It takes some time to learn what keywords are and how they're used but once the pieces all fall into place you'll be on your way!
